"As a surfer, I’ve always been captivated by the flow of water. Even on land, I was mesmerized by how water moves and shapes the world around us. Growing up on the East Side, I’d watch the Ko’olau Mountains roar to life with waterfalls during big storms. Streams would swell, and the streets would often flood. As a kid, I’d wonder: Where does all this water come from? Where does it go?
Today, those same questions still linger, now joined by others, as water rights have become a pressing issue here in Hawaiʻi. After a long career spent surfing, followed by my evolution into the creative world of building brands, water has always stayed top of mind.
Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to meet many incredible artists, including Shar Tui'asoa., also known as Punky Aloha. Shar’s art feels like Hawai‘iher colors, shapes, and typography are rich with warmth, spirit and a deep-rooted sense of place that those from here know and understand. When we discovered we shared a passion for protecting our islands’ precious resource, it felt only natural that this special collection came to life.
Our concept was simple: an embodiment of Mother Nature, crying and through her tears, giving life to the islands. It’s a powerful image, reflecting the sorrow she carries as the struggle over water continues.
All profits from this collection a specialty poster, tee, and a tote will go to nonprofits that fight for our water every day."
